Are there any prerequisites to take a course?

A:

With the exception of our recertification programs, there are no prerequisites for our First Aid & CPR courses.

Q:

Do I have to be a certain age to take a course?

A:

Our first aid or CPR courses have no age requirements as long as participants can learn and perform the skills.

Q:

How long is my certificate valid for?

A:

Red Cross first aid, CPR, and AED certification is valid for three (3) years.

Q:

Can I upgrade to a higher level certificate?

A:

Upgrading to a higher level of certification is not permitted, meaning you will not be exempt from the material that you were trained in, if you realize that you need to take a higher level. We strongly recommend that you check with your employer or your school, prior to the course, to make sure you take the correct course.

When do I pay? And how?

A:

Payment is due just before the start of each course. Please note, our method of payment is cash, and we do not accept other methods of payment. This is only for public courses.

Do you issue refunds?

A:

We do not issue refund to students that do not complete or are unsuccessful on our training programs.

Q:

Do you offer First Aid by itself?

A:

The way these courses are set up First Aid alone is not available. No matter which first aid course you take CPR will be included. These are rules set by WS&IB and we must follow them. However, CPR courses are offered without first aid.

Do your courses offer AED certification

A:

Yes, all our public first aid and CPR courses now come with AED certification, at no extra fee.

Q:

What are the requirements to pass?

A:

To successfully complete our programs, we require 100% attendance & participation for the entire course. There is also a multiple choice exam at the end of each course.

Q:

How can I become a First Aid/CPR instructor?

A:

You must be 18 years of age or older. You must have a current Standard First Aid & CPR level 'C' certification from a recognized agency. If you are already an instructor for another agency there are conversion options available. For more info contact your local Red Cross office: 416-480-2500.
